Neuroscience
As a psychotherapist, having the opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Bruce Perry in the field of neuroscience provided me with a deeper understanding of how brain functions influence emotions, behaviors, and mental health. This knowledge bridges the gap between neuroscience, psychotherapy and spirituality..., allowing me to have a more informed therapeutic approach that is grounded in the biological underpinnings of psychological conditions.
Through this learnings, I gain insights into neuroplasticity, brain circuits involved in trauma, anxiety, depression, as well as how therapeutic interventions can bring about measurable changes in brain activity. It enhanced my ability to explain symptoms to clients in a brain-based framework, fostering both empathy and evidence-based strategies in treatment.
Dr. Perry's approach integrates several core principles of neurodevelopment and traumatology into a comprehensive approach to people, their brain structure, their families and their broader community. Dr Perry's training helps match the nature and timing of specific therapeutic techniques to the developmental stage of person’s brain, and to the brain region and neural networks that are likely mediating their problems.
